Introduction & Dinghy Fleet

Aberdeen Boat Club was founded in 1967 with the beginnings of the main Clubhouse on Shum Wan Road built soon after. Later, land on Middle Island was acquired and in 1982 our first dinghies were purchased, a fleet of ten "Phase 2" boats from New Zealand. In 1987 ABC bought its first Enterprises, with a small fleet of Toppers and Optimists arriving soon after.

The opening of the new Middle Island Clubhouse in 1997 marked further expansion of our club, and since 2007 ABC has seen a very dramatic growth in Dinghy Sailing. Our Middle Island Sailing Centre presently hosts a number of members dinghies together with the clubs present fleet of 73 boats. These club boats are available for members to hire, as well as being used for our extensive Sail Training Programme, full details of which are found HERE.

ABC now has a thriving and rapidly expanding Dinghy Sailing base, and all our various activities are outlined on this website. You can stay up to date with all the latest developments by checking our Facebook Page or by joining our Yahoo Group, and specific enquiries can be made to Angela Ho, Sailing Secretary HERE .
