Introduction & Dinghy Fleet

Aberdeen Boat Club was founded in 1967 with the beginnings of the main Clubhouse on Shum Wan Road built soon after. Later, land on Middle Island was acquired and in 1982 our first dinghies were purchased, a fleet of ten "Phase 2" boats from New Zealand. In 1987 ABC bought its first Enterprises, with a small fleet of Toppers and Optimists arriving soon after.

The opening of the new Middle Island Clubhouse in 1997 marked further expansion of our club, and since 2007 ABC has seen a very dramatic growth in Dinghy Sailing. ABC now has a thriving and rapidly expanding Dinghy Sailing base, and all our various activities are outlined on this website. You can stay up to date with all the latest developments by checking our Facebook Page, specific enquiries can be made to us via HERE .

In July 2019 we will be welcoming two new fleets to Middle Island as part of our fleet moderisation programme. These boats will be used primarily for learn to sail courses. They are designed with sailing schools and clubs in mind as they are very robust, easy to sail and fun!
