Childrens Sailing Courses

ABC Junior Sailing Programme (Age 7 - 11)

ABC launched our junior sailing scheme in 2007 and since then it has become one of the most popular activities at our club, with nearly 2,000 children taking part so far. The programme is for those aged between seven and eleven years old, and students learn to sail in "Optimists", which are specially designed 7 foot dinghies and one of the most popular classes worldwide. In the stage 1 course, young children gain confidence to take to the water and at the end they receive a club certificate. We offer four stages in our Optimist sailing scheme, taking students from complete beginner to club racer. Junior sailing courses are heavily subsidised by ABC to encourage youngsters to sail, and hence offer exceptional value for money.  ABC has invested in a fleet of 24 boats to support our junior sailors, with purpose built trainers through to top-range racing boats and a dedicated club race-coach.

The junior sailing scheme is illustrated opposite and may be downloaded HERE, while the overall ABC sail training scheme showing how it all integrates together is shown HERE [PDF, 261KB].
