ABC Permitted Hiring List
|
Aberdeen Boat Club has a variety of dinghies available for hire to club members; photographs are shown HERE. To be entitled to hire a club boat, the member must first have their name on the club list of Permitted Hirers. To be added to the list, the member must either hold a Level 2 or above Dinghy sailing certificate, or be able to show that you have relevant dinghy sailing experience. Normally, the club will ask those experienced sailors without an appropriate certificate to complete a day or two with an Instructor as a competency test to demonstrate their skills. Members may then complete the Approved Hiring List Application form, a copy of which is available for download by clicking here: Dinghy Approved Hiring List Application
Members or members children who successfully complete a sailing course at ABC are not automatically added to the list of permitted hirers; an application form still needs to be completed and submitted. Note that only Children over 10 years old may be added to the list, and for those under 14 parental supervision will be required.
Applicants are advised to apply in advance, as the List is usually updated approximately every month. If members wish to hire a club boat immediately after completing a course and filling in the Permitted Hiring application form, they should contact the ABC Sailing Secretary, in person, so that individual arrangements can be made. While the club wishes to facilitate Dinghy sailing and hiring by members, the list of Permitted Hirers is part of a very important safety process and should be complied with.
